Sheila Padilla fought on one of the biggest MMA stages in Bellator as she took on Keri Melendez over the weekend in Bellator MMA.

The fight didn’t go her way as Melendez took 47 seconds to drop her with a right hand and followed with more strikes until the referee ended the bout.

This was only Padilla’s third fight and only her first loss. In her previous fights she went the distance twice.

When she fought her second fight back in August at Tachi Palace Fights 28. She displayed better technical skill against a wily competitor but her control helped her win that bout.

This was only a speed bump on Padilla’s road to the top of women’s MMA.

Also, on the card Michael Chandler retained his lightweight title as he defeated Benson Henderson by split decision.

Henderson has had a rough go since moving to Bellator winning only one of three fights.

Lastly, Bellator also made the announcement that heavyweight fighter and UFC vet, Matt Mitrione will take on Fedor Emelianenko who will be making his promotion debut in February.
